Home Altars
March 3, 2008 by catholicheartMy dear Catholic friends, we must revive or enkindle the traditions of home alters. They are wonderful tool to help your prayer life grow. Home Altars are a space ina room where you pray. Usually a table covered in linen or any cloth would make the Altar. You should change the color of the linen depending on the season. Purple for Lent and Advent. Gold or white for Earter. and so on. You should have a cross infront of the altar, and on the altar there should be candles, prayer books/cards. the BIBLE of course. some statues if you would like and anything you think is appropriate. Everyday you should go to you altar and pray. its ecpecially fun fo the little one. let them light the candle with safety of course or do any other job. i will post some pictures of some catholic home altars. thank you and
“May God give you His peace!”
Pray for the Canonization Of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
March 3, 2008 by catholicheartPrayer for the Canonization of the Servant of God Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people.
If it be according to Your Will, for the honor and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. We ask this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, as this lenten season ends let us contemplate and meditate more on Jesus’ sacrifice. let us remember, especially when we see a crucifix, the greatest sacrifice ever given to God the Father. Truly we MUST understand what the Lamb of GOD has done. let our lenten promises and mortifications and penence ever increase as we get closer and closer to that good friday. that friday when our dear Lord took up his cross, suffered, and died. let us be silent then on that day. let no one speak unless neccesity should arise. let us silently eat the smallest and simplest of meals. let each of us read the passion of Jesus Christ. On that day we keep a vigil. awaiting the great and awesome ressurection of our dear Lord.
May the LORD give you his peace and and my your guradian angel guide you to Christ.
Yours in Christ Jesus…Catholic Heart

Fasting
February 4, 2008 by catholicheartAs many should know, we are going into the season of Lent. Some people have asked me why do you have to fast.
I would reply that it’s self denial. Remembering that we do not live by bread alone.
St. Augustine wrote on the matter-
“Fasting cleanses the soul, raises the mind, subjects one’s flesh to the Spirit, renders the heart contrite and humble, scatters the clouds of concupiscence, quenches the fire of lust, and kindles the true light of chastity”
I hope that this elightens people to the light of Christ.
